Premier dc-5330 und dc-6345

hi!

i've got two Premier cameras (dc 6345 and dc 5330) - but they are the same as Traveler 5300 and I think 6300.
I've got 2 questions:
- what's the number of the newest firmware for 5300 and how can I recognize the CCD type (sharp or sony)
- does Your 6300 use the green flasher for autofocus? because in my camera the green blinks only on self-timer and I have lot's of problems with autofocus in dark rooms.

i've bought my cameras in Denmark but I live in Poland so it's too difficult for me to go there to get these problems solved.

Thank You very much!

Premier dc-5330 und dc-6345

I've managed to get 0,38 version for dc5300 (works a bit faster than 0.33) -> http://www.rekam.ru/drivers/dcj01x.bin

Also I've written to support@premierimage.com.tw but they replied that upgrading firmware is complicated freuen and they told me to go to the shop in Denmark where I bought it and get it done there freuen

My german is rather poor so I would be grateful if someone could help me in searching trough german pages and forums - the cameras similar to my Premier DC-6345 are:
Rollei dp6500
Acer CI-6330

my firmware version is 1.01 -> but somewhere in google i've found that there are newer versions in new cameras - but nowhere to download traurig

vielen dank fur Seine hilfe

Hello brodacz,

are you now talking about your dc 6345 or dc 5330?

If your DC5330 is completely compatible to "our" DC5300 from Traveler (which I believe!), you have to decide whether you have the sony or the sharp CCD (as you have already stated below). Depending on which CCD you have, you should be able to either run the 0.33 (Sharp) or the 1.21 (Sony). The best hint on which CCD is built in your cam might be the current F/W version. If it's a 0.xx version, you most likely have a Sharp; if it's a 1.xx version, you probably have a Sony chip.
Somewhere I learned that it would be impossible to flash an incompatible F/W because the filename of the binary file is different and the flash routine in the camera is looking for the right file name.
The flashing procedure is quite easy; just format a reliable SD card in your cam, store the binary file in the ROOT directory of this card, place it back into the cam, connect the cam to the external power supply (in case the battery is too low to finish the flash cycle!) and press the "UP" cursor key while switching the camera on. The F/W update will then start automatically.

You might want to "test" the new F/W before flashing it permanently into the cam - so instead of pressing the "UP" key, you can also press the "DOWN" cursor key while switching on the cam. In this case, the F/W is only installed temporarily and you can test it first. I really recommend to go that way first!

I've read somewhere that the 0.38 from www.rekam.ru is similar to the 0.33 which you'll find in this forum but it brings no further improvement. I have the Traveler DC5300 with a Sharp CCD and I even prefer the 0.25 Version instead of the 0.33, so you should try a bit and compare the results.

Concerning your question for the DC6345, I cannot help since I don't have this cam...

Hello brodacz,

about Dc-6345
some guy in Italy wrote that he has 1.02 version of firmware - but as far as I know there's no chance of downloading firmware from camera to *.bin file :/
The main reason I would like to do this is because the poor autofocus in dark conditions - as I described above - i think that it shoult blink the green square (just as it does in 5330) to help itself in focusing.
Maybe someone in Germany managed to get newer firmware - I would be grateful for any information.

--------------------

now about 5330 freuen

I'll try to upload the 0,25 and will describe the differences between this version and 0.38 which I'm using right now.

The Premier DC 6345 is most probably identical to the Traveler DC6300 and the Maginon DC6330 (among several others, indeed!).
There is a F/W update from Maginon here in the Forum: http://traveler-forum.de/phpmyforum/board.php?id=81&
But it seems as if there is no experience so far with that F/W as no feedback is given to that link. So use at your own risk! (you should sniff around here to learn how to download the file from the server)
As far as I can read from different threads in this forum concerning DC6300, all users with Traveler DC6300's have kept their initial version in the cam. I think it is version 1.16 for the Traveler DC6300, but this version number does not need to be comparable with "Maginon" or "Premier" firmware versions. So if yours is 1.01, it does not necessarily mean that Traveler 1.16 is newer - who knows...

BTW, I don't know of any way how to rip a binary out af a cam, neither.

However, I remember having read articles here about users who have asked Premier by eMail for F/W updates and they got them, maybe it was for DC5300 ('cos we have plenty of versions here freuen ) but perhaps you should try again hoping to get anwered from a more willing employee...

To be honest: I even do not really know if it is possible to flash a DC6300/DC6330/DC6345 by the same procedure as the DC53xx models... Did you ever try it?

I didn't try it because I haven't got any proper firmware file lachen but - I've read a few threads at UFO (not the flying object - the Ukrainian cameras producer - he is also making lot of identical cameras) and there are firmware files with *.elf extension - but only to quite poor models.

I've been looking at the Traveler DC6300 but now I'm sure that it isn't the brother-camera to my DC-6345.
The DC-6300 looks just like DC-5300 in traveler - my 6345 is much different - but I think that this isn't an advantage traurig

tommorrow after my exams i'll try to post a few photos of this cam (6345)

DANKE!
